Since arriving at the club last month to take charge of managerial affairs at the helm of the club, following French boss, Arsene Wenger’s departure, Spaniard Unai Emery has been working really hard to put a new squad together ahead of the new campaign.
Arsenal for the bulk of last season couldn’t bite their opposition and were languid till the tail end of last season.
It comes as no surprise that calls for Wenger to leave the club surged, forcing the club’s hierarchy hands to appoint a new manager who will take them to centre stage.
Following Emery’s appointment, the former Sevilla boss has succeeded in closing the spaces in their defence, as he has successful signed Switzerland international Stephan Lichtsteiner, Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos and another goalie between the sticks, Bernd Leno.
Youngster Lucas Torreira is the latest to be added in the Gunners’ ranks after he was reportedly purchased for 26.5 million pounds as confirmed by the Guardian.
The 22-year-old has revealed he is excited about joining the Gunners, after dodging interests from other clubs.
The midfielder remarked that he is happy playing in the best league in the world, with a great team as Arsenal.
“I like Arsenal because it is a top team. It is a great club playing in the best league in the world.” the midfielder said
“I am also excited about playing with my new teammates.
He also added that the Emirates crowd influenced his decision to move to England and play for the Gunners.
