While most of the Clubs have departed for their pre-season tour, they are yet to reinforce their squad with the number of players needed to push for the Premier League title.
Just like Man United dealt a transfer punch to Chelsea in the transfer of Romelu Lukaku, the Red Devils seem to be inclined to the players Chelsea want. Is this a mind game by Jose Mourinho?
Jose Mourinho had informed Man United that he needed four players at United this summer, and having signed two, reports by Starsports claim the Red Devils have agreed a £35m deal for another Chelsea transfer target Tiemoue Bakayoko as third signing of the summer for United.
Chelsea have been credited with a move for Bakayoko, with report claiming that he had a medical with the Blues but the deal for the French stalwart appear to have stalled, leaving United who are more pragmatic in the window to pounce on Conte’s target.
Jose Mourinho has been keeping tabs on Nemanja Matic but given the recent rivalry between United and Chelsea in the transfer window, it is believed that Man United offers for the Serbian will be thrown out.
Mourinho is currently without options in midfield. The departure of Wayne Rooney to Everton has further left his midfield thin and so, he must sign a midfielder.
Following the exploits of Monaco in Ligue One and the Champions League last season, they have become one of the biggest markets in the transfer window this summer.
Bakayoko, 22, plays as a central midfielder but his ability to hold on to possession and drive into the opponent’s half, makes him a perfect fit for any midfield.
We cannot ascertain if Monaco have accepted the offers for him but we wait to see how this pans out.
