Chelsea’s Brazilian youngster Kennedy became Newcastle’s first signing as he joined the Magpies on a six-month loan deal. During his first interview with the press at the St James Park stadium, Kennedy revealed that the move to the Premier League strugglers is a dream come true
According to the 21-year-old Brazilian forward, it has been his longtime dream to play for a club like Newcastle. “When I was a child, I used to play with my friends in the streets and I always dreamt [of] being in a club like this one. And now the dream has come true,” he said.
The former Fluminese player who joined the Blues in the summer of 2015 for a fee of £6.3m believes his move to the St James Park stadium is urgently needed to enhance his development. Kennedy has been a bit-part player for Antonio Conte’s team, he featured in just one match for the Blues without a goal in the League this season before his move to the Magpies.
“It’s a really important time in my career and I hope I can do my best. I’m here to learn and show my potential is not just potential, but that I can do things in the future.” Kennedy told Sky Sport.
Rafa Benitez whose bid for Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge was rejected by the Merseyside club, will hope that the acquisition of the young forward will bolster his team’s attacking threat in his fight against relegation.
Chelsea who have been busy since the start of the winter transfer window have now loaned out two youngsters after Musonda joined Scottish League Champions Celtic till the end of the season.
Meanwhile, the Magpies have also been linked with another 21-year-old striker Kelechi Iheanacho. The Leicester city man is regularly being used as a substitute in matches by Claude Puel.
According to Leicester mercury, the youngster could move to St James Park before the end of the month.
