While Arsene Wenger has bolstered his current squad, some players have fallen down the selection pecking order of his squad and others may not even get to play next season.
The Gunners have a large headcount of players on the exit list of Club. However, Arsenal have been boosted by the decision of goalkeeper David Ospina to stay put at the Emirates despite the advances of Turkish clubs.
According to Arsene Wenger, it took lots of efforts to convince the Columbian international to stay at Arsenal this term, reports the Express.
Following Wojciech Szczesny misdemeanor, Ospina assumed the position of first choice goal keeper at Arsenal. However, he became out of favour when Arsenal signed Petr Cech from Chelsea in the summer of 2015 and he has since struggled to nail down a place in the first team of the Gunners.
Ospina reiterated his desire to play regularly, a feat he will certainly achieve away from Arsenal. Nonetheless, Arsene Wenger claims he convinced Ospina to remain at Arsenal with claims that he’ll soon become first choice.
The Gunners manager said: “It was not easy to convince Ospina to stay, but he will play games and fight with Petr Cech to start.
“And anyway, we play other competitions. He wants to play in a World Cup year.”
Wenger used David Ospina in the Champions League last season but this term, he revealed that he’ll mostly use his B team to play the Europa Cup. Ospina may lead the Gunners in that campaign.
Arsenal have sold Wojciech Szczesny to the Old Lady, they certainly do not want to lose another top-notch goalkeeper.
