Not Morata: Man United lodge huge bid for free-scoring Chelsea prime target

In this transfer window, Manchester United and Chelsea seem to have something in common , which is their pursuit for same players. Both Clubs have been linked with moves for Tiemoue Bakayoko and Alvaro Morata.

We Understand that Bakayoko is nearing a move to Chelsea while Morata has informed his buddies that he’s decided to join Man United – with non of the deals confirmed, Chelsea and Man United have made offers for Begium international and Everton forward Romelu Lukaku, reports Starsports.

Lukaku had informed the hierarchies of the Toffees of his desire to move to “bigger” Club and even rejected a contract extension. However, his mammoth £100m price tag portends a major stumbling block to the move.

Chelsea are understood to be front-runners for the player’s signature but Conte has lined-up him second to Andrea Belotti, who is his prime target.

Ibrahimovic departs Old Trafford today and Mourinho has been looking for the player that would lead his front-line. Lukaku played under Mourinho in Chelsea and so, they have an understanding.

And now, former Arsenal striker Paul Mariner  spoke on ESPN and claims:

“My mate is now the sporting director at Everton,” the former Arsenal striker said on ESPN FC.

“I had a good chat with him and they’re going to spend a lot of money this summer.

“They feel as if it’s time they broke into that top four, it’s a big ask but that’s what Ronald Koeman and the staff want to do.

“They’ve had bids for Lukaku, mainly from Manchester United and Chelsea.

“It’s a lot of money, I personally wouldn’t be paying that sort of money.

“They think they can hold out for it but they’ve already added to the squad.

“It’s going to be very, very interesting to see if they improve and I think they will improve.”

Lukaku enjoyed his career’s best season when he ended last term as second top scorer of the Premier League with 25 goals.
