Antonio Conte is poised to strengthen the team of Chelsea this summer but he has also been heavily involved in the sales of players, recouping over £125million for the Blues since the January transfer window.
According to reports making the rounds, Chelsea central midfielder Reuben Loftus-Cheek is on the cusp of switching Stamford Bridge for Selhurst Park on a season long loan deal.
Loftus-Cheek became a Chelsea player at age 8 but had his breakthrough season in the December of 2014, when he replaced Cesc Fabregas in Chelsea’s game Champions League game against Sporting Lisbon.
The youngster steadily grew into the first team of Chelsea but his progress was stalled when Conte took charge of the Blues last summer and signed on N’golo Kante.
The English star is now in the chase of a host of English Clubs including Newcastle, Southampton and Brighton, but it is Frank De Boer’s Crystal Palace that appear to have won the race for the player’s signature.
The England u-21 star is expected to complete all the formalities for his loan move to Selhurst Park within the next 24 hours with a medical already scheduled, per the report.
Loftus-Cheek made six appearances for Chelsea last season but his best bet at regular football is away from Stamford Bridge. This would be his first loan spell away from Chelsea since his broke into the first team squad three years ago.
Chelsea’s interest in Tiemoue Bakayoko and their retention of Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas means Conte has no desire to feature the youngster.
