Manchester United came-off the Super Cup game with a defeat against Real Madrid last night but the game exposed some of the weaknesses of the Red Devils team.
While Mourinho may be looking for a way to fine tune his current squad, former Real Madrid man Steve McManaman reckons that it is only a matter of time before David De Gea realises his dream of playing for Real Madrid, reports the Express.
De Gea has been on the transfer radar of Los Blancos for quite some time now as they view him as the heir to Iker Casilas gloves. He was close to joining them in the penultimate season but for a faulty fax machine that scuppered his move on deadline day.
The impressive shot-stopper was a subject of huge interest from Real Madrid this summer but Mourinho has revealed that he’ll be staying put at the fortress of Old Trafford. Meanwhile, De Gea has also informed Mourinho of his desire to join Madrid.
McManaman reckons that De Gea is an improvement over Madrid’s current goalkeeper Keylor Navas and he is sure the Spanish shot-stopper will ended up wearing the Gloves of the Santiago Bernabeu outfit.
“I thought the goalkeeper played really well tonight for Manchester United, I thought de Gea did well,” McManaman said on BT Sport.
“I don’t know if that was a plus point or a minus point for United, because out of the two goalkeepers, he was the better goalkeeper by far.
“Madrid covet him highly don’t they and they want him. They’ll end up taking him off Man United, whether it’s next year, the year after.
“They will take him in the end, definitely, they will definitely take him.
“In the end if United are not delivering the trophies that de Gea wants, he’ll want to move to Real Madrid.
“He’s a Spanish boy and he’ll end up going that way. I thought he did well, he shone out of the goalkeepers tonight.”
Dea Gea is about the most expensive goalkeeper in the world. He extended his contract with United after his failed move two summers ago and he is currently valued at 40,00 Mill. € according to transfermarkt.
