Arsenal will have to cough up 80 million euros to fetch powerful European winger and Lille talent Nicolas Pepe from the French Ligue 1 when the summer window opens.
Pepe has been the meat of transfer rumours in England. His fine tally of 16 goals and eight registered assists is good enough to ring his name in the Premier League.
Manchester United and Arsenal are keen on the player. But it is Arsenal who have been regularly linked with the prolific winger.
Nonetheless, if they must pick him up first before the Mancunians United they will have to make a fast bid north of the 50 million euros reported to have been rejected by the French side from some clubs in England.
Pepe has made 27 Ligue 1 appearances this term for French side this campaign, but with his praising performance which has soared beyond France it could be difficult to resist tempting offers for the player.
It is unlikely they can hold out longer in his sale. According to club president Gérard Lopez told Canal Plus “we have offers yes.”
Lopez believes the left-footed winger deserves a chance to show what he’s got in top leagues.
Lopez said: “In England, there are clubs. We have had offers worth €50m.
“We will not sell for less, we have even refused a €50m bid.
“We had an offer from China worth €80m with an astronomical salary, but he didn’t want to go.”
