New twist for Arsenal over contract extension for world class duo – report

Arsenal are said to be facing contract issues with two of  the club’s ‘senior’ players.

Arsenal are yet to clarify Ozil’s and Alexis’ contract issues when another saga arose earlier today as Welbeck and Ramsey rejected Arsenal’s contract extension offer, claims the Times.

Danny Welbeck who joined the North London club from Manchester United in 2014 for £16 million fee, still has 18 months left on his contract. Despite having some time to think of his decision concerning his future at Arsenal, the England international forward didn’t take long before rejecting the offer.

Ramsey, joined Arsenal at the age of 18 from Cardiff City in 2008 in a £5million transfer deal. His contract is also set to expire in 18 months time, but he has refused to increase his stay at the Emirates Stadium.

According to The Times, the England forward and the Wales midfielder could be convinced by Arsene Wenger  before their contracts expire.

Danny Welbeck came on from the bench to replace Alex Iwobi in the 69th minute of the match against West Ham United on Wednesday while Aaron Ramsey is still sidelined by injury.

The Gunners will be up against Newcastle on Saturday in a must-win match if they must finish fourth in the Premier League standings.

In other Arsenal transfer news, Arsene Wenger has again confirmed that Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil won’t leave the club in January.

“I can tell you a global answer – yes. They will all stay,” he confirmed to newsmen.
