Los Blancos Real Madrid have firmed up their interest in the clinching the deal for Chelsea playmaker and talisman Eden Hazard.
The European Champions approached Chelsea shortly before the appointment of former boss Zinedine “Zizou” Zidane after giving Santiago Scolari the boot following strings of poor results.
Hazard move to Real Madrid looked to have been completely quelled when Real failed to grab the 27-year-old last summer and in January.
When Zidane had left the club after an unequalled European Champions League triumph as the club’s boss before dumping the side, Hazard was labelled the Cristiano Ronaldo’s likely successor when rumours spilled out about an ongoing feud between Ronaldo and president Florentino Pérez.
Zidane exit dealt a devastating punch to a side that were once revered for their attacking style of football. Now, clubs could run easily past them without having to break too much sweat.
Hazard’s has less than 18 months left on his contract at Chelsea. Still, Chelsea are strongly keen on holding out and will not peddle their marksman below the £100m mark.
Suggestions being hawked around say Real Madrid have squirreled away just that amount of cash. With Zidane returning to manage the club again, Los Blancos are willing to providing him with all the tools he needs to refurbish and rebuild the side to make them great again.
