Manchester United boss José Mourinho is set to beat Liverpool in the chase after Napoli midfielder Jorginho as he has advised the club to release a mouthwatering sum of £50million so as to complete the Italian’s signature ahead of their rivals Liverpool, who are also keen on his service.
José Mourinho’s men have had a less inspiring display at the midfield position as Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic both seem to be out of form while youngster Scott Mctominay seems not ripe enough to control the midfield of a club like the 20-time Premier League Champions.
With reports linking Marouane Fellaini with a summer switch to Turkish giants Besiktas, and Ander Herrera being linked with a move to La Liga in the next transfer market, José Mourinho is in search of a center midfielder before the 2018-19 season commences.
Mourinho has beamed his searchlight on Jorginho whom he feels is the right man capable of operating alongside Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic at the middle of the pitch.
According to Daily Star, United are set to tempt Napoli with a £50m-offer in the summer so as to avoid losing the player to Jurgen Klopp.
Though Jorginho is not a player known for his goalscoring exploits, his importance to Maurizio Sarri’s side so far this season cannot be denied.
Liverpool are also keen on the Italian midfielder as Jurgen Klopp sees him as the perfect replacement for Phillippe Coutinho whom they sold to Barcelona in the winter.
Jorginho, 26, has scored just two league goals in 111 appearances since he joined Napoli from Verona in the 2013-14 season.
