Loaning out Michy Batshuayi to Borussia Dortmund in the winter seems to be Conte’s greatest undoing as the Belgian scores again in the Europa League fixture involving the Bundesliga giants Dortmund and Atalanta.
The Belgian striker was sparingly used by Conte throughout his stay at Stamford Bridge as the Italian manager preferred using Spanish international striker Alvaro Morata as his team’s leading striker.
In his quest for regular first-team action, Michy Batshuayi joined the Westfalenstadion outfit before the end of January, and he has been a great addition to the club. The Belgian showed his goalscoring prowess in his first appearance for BVB by scoring a brace and also an assist.
Chelsea fans were yet to overcome their pain for letting the player join the Bundesliga giants when he scored his third goal for Borussia Dortmund in his second appearance.
His man-of-the-match performance in yesterday’s Europa League fixture will definitely keep Conte wondering why he didn’t have so much trust in the player’s ability. Batshuayi was all over the pitch in the match and he was rewarded for his hard work when he scored in the 60th minute to bring the score-line level at 2-2.
He also rounded up the scoring in the 90th minute to give Dortmund a slender win over Atalanta. The Bundesliga giants are said to make a permanent move for the player in the summer, but that might be difficult considering the level at which he’s performing at the moment and Chelsea can’t afford to let him go in the summer.
