For the teeming fans of Arsenal, the summer of 2013 will fondly be remembered for the transfer of Mesut Ozil from the Bernabeu to the Emirates Stadium. Arsene Wenger shattered Arsenal’s transfer record and signed on the eagle-eyed passer of the ball and assist giver.
As expected, the midfield schemer shone on his debut for the Gunners as he provided an assist for Giroud in their game against Sunderland. The Germany international put up a match winning performance three weeks later on his debut at the Emirates – he provided two assists and was involved in the third goal when they thumped Stoke City.
Although, the mega star is experiencing an indifferent form at the moment, he has has continued in his own stead at Real Madrid. According to the report by the Metro, Ozil has broken a personal pass record, a feat he achieved in Arsenal’s win over Hull City on Saturday.
The Gunners ran rally over the KCOM Stadium outfit and it was goals from Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott and Granit Xhaka that earned the three points for Arsenal. Ozil missed an opportunity to extend the Gunners lead to three just before the second half of the game.
However, the mesmerizing midfielder did not fail to improve his stats. He completed the most passes than any player on the pitch and raised his personal tally to 104 in a game.
If Arsenal are going to push for the title this season, then Ozil will have to maintain the level of performance where he is not just completing passes but scoring goals and providing assist for his team mates.
