Mesut Ozil and the no. 10 Arsenal Jersey for the 2017/2018 season

In what may pass as a weird development, Arsenal’s official website has addressed Mesut Ozil as the club’s no. 10.

Whilst conducting a interview with the Arsenal Player, the German international positing about the signing of Sead Kolasinic was referred to as a No. 10 instead of the No. 11 squad number which he currently occupies at the club.

Whilst this could likely be a mistake, it could yet mean that Ozil is set to don the jersey number which is currently in the possession of Jack Wilshere.

Wilshere spent a junk of the 2016/2017 season on loan at Bournemouth, after he saw himself fall down the pecking orders of attackers at the club. With his loan spell now terminated, he has returned but not with a broken bone which ideally leave him out of the preseason preparations and, in extension, the opening games of the upcoming season.

The England international has just one year left to run on his current contract, and with no signs of an extension being tabled for the 100k-a-week star, a move out of his boyhood club is likely to happen.

Mesut Ozil dons the N0. 10 jersey for Germany, and even before his move to Arsenal he wore that number at Real Madrid. His penchant for the much revered number may likely spur him to oust Wilshere to claim the number.

Ozil is yet to sign a contract extension, and he may have added the aforementioned request as one of the criteria to be met for a new deal at the Emirates stadium.
