Maurizio Sarri is keen on taking Chelsea on their next flight to greater European glory, beyond his achievements in Napoli, and to do just that, the Italian is pressing hard for Chelsea to secure a deal for Lyon star Houssem Aouar.
Sarri signed Jorginho over from Napoli this summer, including getting Mateo Kovacic all the way from Spain. His style has worked perfectly for Chelsea this term.
Sarri is yet to win a major silverware in a big outfit, and championing towards that course of action in Chelsea will confirm him up there among the greats.
RMC Sport has credited Chelsea with an interest in Aouar and Sarri believes the midfielder fits perfectly and well knitted into his long-term plans for the club.
Aouar’s price fee is estimated in the region of 30 million pounds, a small change for Chelsea, if the reports from RMC are to be believed.
Aouar has yet to miss a game for Lyon having featured in all competitions for the French outfit, establishing himself as one of the club’s key pillars.
He is a joint top-scorer for Lyon, equalling five goals in Ligue One, as well as notching up three assists in the Champions League, the joint most in the competition.
Liverpool and Barcelona are in the running for the midfielder, but Lyon will be stubborn in letting him leave in January, given how important he is to the outfit.
