Maurizio Sarri has handed former Leicester City man Danny Drinkwater a shocking dismissal from his team sheet.
According to reports swarming the media, Sarri has kicked the England international out of his team this summer.
The 30 million pounds signing who joined during Conte’s spell at the club will not be part of new head coach Sarri squad this season.
The midfielder is between a rock and a hard place now, after the close of the Premier League transfer window on Thursday, last week.
Drinkwater has been linked to move back to former club Leicester City this summer, including attracting interests from Crystal Palace and West Ham last week.
But a switch from the club failed to materialise before deadline day, and the midfielder is left with an herculean task of having to fight for a place in Sarri’s squad, or move abroad to Europe.
There are also talks bandying about a move to join any championship side, but so far, Chelsea are yet to receive bids for the midfielder from any second-tier outfit.
The middle of the park is already saturated at Chelsea and competition for a place is expected to get fiercer this season.
Frenchman Tiemoue Bakayoko has join Italian club AC Milan, freeing some space, leaving Cesc Fabregas, Ross Barkley, Jorginho, N’golo Kante and Ruben Loftus-Cheek including Drinkwater to fight for a spot.
Kante and the gaffer’s man Jorginho remain unmoved in Sarri’s starting lineup.
Drinkwater is down the pecking order behind trio– Fabregas, Ross Barkley, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Drinkwater and looks to have been pipped to the post.
