Antonio Rudiger could be trimmed out of the squad that will face Liverpool on Wednesday in the League Cup third round.
The German defender suffered a knock against West Ham and was forced out of play, just after the hour mark at the London Stadium on Sunday.
Rudiger is a blue-chip in Sarri’s quartet Chelsea backline since the Italian took the helm in July.
The Germany international played a bit-part role under former boss Antonio Conte, including moots of a possible exit during the Italian’s stint in charge.
However, concerning the injury blow, Sarri has ruled out anything serious. The 56-year-old assured that the defender will return to the fold by weekend, though, there are still hints of grey on whether the 24-year-old can play against Liverpool on Wednesday.
Sarri conceded that Rudiger could be out “maybe three or four days, no more.” according to FootballLondon.
Chelsea edged past Liverpool in during that last meeting in May this year. Oliver Giroud slotted home the only goal for the Blues from a Moses assist, that nipped a much deserved win for the former English champions during Conte’s spell as manager.
Liverpool host FA Cup winners Chelsea for the first time this season in the League Cup, before travelling to Stamford Bridge three day later, for their first Premier League clash.
