Chelsea have given a nod of approval to let England international Gary Cahill depart Stamford Bridge.
The defender will be axed from the club at the end of the season when he will bid crowds of fans goodbye.
The FA Cup winners gave up that the 31-year-old will be allowed to roam off as a free agent at the end of the season when he has reached the end of his contract at the London outfit.
It hasn’t been all green for the Premier League winner, when he won the competition under former boss Antonio Conte in 2016.
Since Conte was dumped by the Blues after a disgraceful last season, Sarri’s arrival has seen the 32-year-old rack fewer games under his belt this campaign.
Chelsea will not stand in his way should he take flight. However, should the Englishman chose not to, he will have to agree to a new deal.
But it is highly unlikely that will happen. Cahill fessed up his wish to leave the outfit in September. The England international’s situation at the club has hit the lowest mark and hopes that the club will grant him the wish to exit the club when the time comes.
Cahill’s imminent exit has sparked a healthy rivalry in the Premier League and Championship. Manchester United, West Ham, Southampton, and Aston Villa are very keen on snatching him up.
United have been tipped as favourites, after he won the Premier League with former boss Jose Mourinho, during the Portuguese’s stint at Stamford Bridge.
