Mateo Kovacic has expressed that he is not presently thinking about making his Chelsea loan a permanent stay at the London club.
The Croat ho moved to the English club from Real Madrid in the summer has showed just what he is worth with amazing displays under his belt.
In his interview with the London Evening Standard, the World Cup finalist was coy when answering questions put to him as he showed that he is not yet over with Real Madrid.
It’s too early for these questions, I am here and very happy. [Playing regularly] is good, I’m a little bit tired. I was not used to playing every three or four games and here it is very tough football.
You can’t relax against anybody so it’s a little bit difficult but I really enjoy it. We have a great team, great fans and the city is nice. I like it a lot here.
In the agreement with Madrid, Chelsea were never given the option to buy the Croatian midfielder after his loan. Hence, the club may find it hard when negotiating with Madrid for Kovacic.
It remains unseen if Madrid will be willing to let go of the talented midfielder who has been tagged as Luka Modric’s successor both at club and national level.
Following a 5-1 mauling by Barcelona, Real Madrid are officially in a mess. The UEFA Champions League winners will be somewhat reluctant letting go of a prized asset. More importantly, they wouldn’t want to make the same mistake they made in James Rodriguez’ case with Kovacic.
Nonetheless, if Kovacic continues his pristine form at the London club, the Blues will be at the front of the queue when pursuing a deal for the midfielder in the summer.
