Manchester United youngster Callum Gribbin has sustained an injury while in training with the B team of the Red Devils and he will be out of action for a long time, this is according to report.
The youngster has progressed well through the academy of Man United and his talent has not gone unnoticed in England. He’s earned call up to the Under-16 and Under-17 of England and he has been dubbed as one of the best emerging talents from the academy.
He broke into the B team of United and he’s had a barnstorming pre-season ahead of this season. However, he was left out of United’s reserve squad that played Leicester City and Swansea but his absence was due to the injury he sustained.
“We are hugely disappointed to lose Callum with the injury but know that he will come back stronger once his recovery is complete,” Sbragia told ManUtd.com.
“These things can happen at any moment and it was just an accident where he went over on his ankle in training. Once he was assessed, we realised the damage and it is really unfortunate for him and the squad, after a great pre-season.
“We don’t want to put a timeframe on his comeback but he has the best possible support network around him and will get back into the rhythm once he is back on the training pitch.”
Ricky Sbragia manages the reserves of United and the absence of Gibbrin is obviously a huge loss to his squad especially as they prepare to take on Tottenham Hotspur away from home.
Man United left back Luke Shaw had picked up similar injury but including a fracture to his tibia against PSV Eindhoven in a Champions League game of 2015 and he was ruled out for the entire campaign.
The youngster is dubbed as the new Ryan Giggs and he snubbed Manchester City and Liverpool to put pen to paper on a new deal two years ago.
