Massive injury blow for Man United ahead of Champions League game

Chris Smalling has been ruled out of Man United Champions League clash against Valencia, according to various reports.

United shove aside the series of draws and defeats they have had after beating Fulham in the Premier League last weekend. Smalling fractured his foot and limped out of the game.

According to the Daily Mail, Jose Mourinho will not rush the England defender into action and he will not be in the squad that will take on Valencia on Wednesday.

Although United have had defence crisis this season, Smalling has been preferred over any of the centre-backs at the club. Mourinho appears to be pleased with the show off of the player and he has always fielded him along any of the other players.

The Red Devils cannot afford have Smalling on the recovery pane for long as it is given that the hectic festive schedule is approaching.

It would be interesting to see who is featured against the Los Che. The Pair of Eric Bailly and Marcus Rojo have been underused this season. Mourinho will not take any chances.

Meanwhile, Man United have been linked to a plethora of defenders ahead of the January transfer window. Toby Alderweireld is reportedly top of the Mourinho’s target for the coming window.
