After Lovren’s stomach injury came to a head following the World Cup round off, the 29-year-old has yet to resume training at Anfield.
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp ruled out a return for the Croatia international, after seeing him already miss four Premier League games.
Klopp is hopeful the centre-back will wear his boots soon and commence training with the rest of the Liverpool squad.
He said : “Dejan is coming closer but he is not really around team training in the moment. I’m not 100 per cent sure what he is doing today because we are the day before the game, so he will not be involved in that [Brighton] game.
“I’m pretty sure no chance for the Leicester game and then hopefully after the international break he will be ready to go. That would be nice.

“That was actually the target from the first day when he was in and we knew about his problems, and we always thought if we can give him that time, if he could come through that time, that would be cool.”
Liverpool will play a marathon of games after the international break. Despite Gomez stepping up to the plate, Lovren’s absence could narrow their chances of sustaining their lead at the top of the Premier League standings.
