Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is reportedly out of Chelsea’s Carabao semi-final return leg clash against Arsenal on Wednesday due to injury, reports the Daily Mail. The Belgian net-minder picked up a knock during training in the week and he’s a doubt for the must-win clash against the Gunners who are desperately in need of a win to boost their confidence level.
The Belgian has been in fine form for the Blues so far this season and he still remain as one of Real Madrid’s prime targets in the ongoing transfer market.
Antonio Conte whose Chelsea future is under pressure will now be without some important players due to injury and suspensions. The Italian coach will play against Arsenal on Wednesday without the services of Cesc Fabregas who is out due to Hamstring injury, Gary Cahill – due to muscular injury and Danny Drinkwater who is also out due to lack of match fitness.
Chelsea played a goalless draw against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge a fortnight ago. They will be hoping to defeat the Gunners which will serve as morale booster ahead of Champions League round-of-16 fixture against Barcelona at Camp Nou next month.
Meanwhile, Chelsea defeated Brighton in the Premier League’s early kickoff match on Saturday. The Blues were all over the pitch and they made their possession counts as they defeated Brighton 4-0 with Eden Hazard scoring two goals while Willian and Victor Moses sealed the win for the defending Champions.
