Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s remarkable feat as Manchester United’s caretaker manager has heaped many accolades on the Norwegian. United’s magnificent comeback in the Champions League made them the first European club in the competition this campaign to overturn a 2-nil home deficit.
But the journey doesn’t end there. United have one foot in fourth place on the Premier League log. And they take on fierce north London rivals Arsenal on Saturday.
Wednesday’s remarkable win at Parc de Princes, though very commending, came at a cost. The Red Devils were short on quality players, and had looked bare-boned with the names on their team sheet.
Midfielder Paul Pogba was trimmed out of the squad due to suspension, Eric Bailly who had been completely oblivious under the Mourinho’s tutelage limped off few minutes to the end of first half. Frontman Anthony Martial never featured as well after being sidelined in five previous games due to injuries.
Ander Herrera, Nemanja Matic were also absent. While praises still linger over their decent delivery in France, you can’t gloss over the importance of staying ahead in the local league.
United have been handed a good boost ahead of their clash however, against Arsenal. Martial, Paul Pogba and Eric Bailly have all been cleared for a return. While Herrera and Matic could also make a comeback.
