France and Manchester United forward Anthony Martial has laid bare his desire to leave the fortress of Old Trafford this summer, this is according to report.
Martial arrived Manchester United in the summer of 2015 as the most expensive teenager and under Luis Van Gaal, he was high on the selection pecking order. Alas, Martial is a bit-part player for Jose Mourinho and he is obviously unhappy.
Before the second half of last season, Martial was played regularly with Marcus Rashford on the left flank but it was the signing of Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal that affected his place for the Red Devils.
The 22-year-old managed a few cameos for United this year and his lack of game-time cost him his place in the French World cup squad.
Martial will enter the final year of his contract with United next season but it appears he is not interested in extending his deal as claimed by his agent Philippe Lamboley.
“After thinking about all the possibilities, Anthony wants to leave Manchester United,” Lamboley told RMC,
“When Manchester United, which is the most powerful club in the world, does not find an agreement in eight months of negotiations, it is that it does not really want to make it (Martial) an important player.”
Lamboley added: “It is a well-considered decision. He is under contract, United will have the last word and we will respect the decision of the club, it will go to the end of its commitment.
“We do not have the same vision on Anthony’s future. Without the unconditional support of the fans, Anthony would have already asked to leave United.
“I will not comment on the consequences of the January transfer window. Everyone will have his opinion, I think he must resume the course of his career. The time has come.”
Martial is not short of Suitors as M.E.N claims Tottenham have joined Chelsea in the race for the player’s signature. Chelsea have been heavily linked with a move for the player and they may take advantage of his situation to lure him to Stamford Bridge.
