Manchester United have found themselves between a rock and a hard place over convincing shot-stopper David de Gea into agreeing to stay at the club for the long haul.
It has been a frustrating season for the Manchester outfit after they took a deep plunge from last season to land in a quagmire this season.
Firstly, despite despatching enough money to sign quality targets in the summer, United couldn’t lay their hands on a handful.
They happened on Fred, who so far has yet to settle in on his new role at the club.
Fans bemoaned at manager Jose Mourinho’s tacks, some have described it as antics.
United looked set for a comeback this season after securing a top four finish last season. But a raft of issues have been breathing in the Old Trafford arena, sowing seeds of struggle which has completed stalled the club’s progress.
Amid the gigantic problems crippling the club’s effectiveness in the Premier League and other competitions, United are yet to win a major trophy, and this has discouraged a few players who are keen on departing the outfit.
De Gea is one of a few players who are reluctant to put a pen to paper and whose contract expires at the end of this season. The 28-year-old is saddened and worried about the future of the club and is angling to leave. Juventus is interested, but they may have to wait until next season should United trigger a clause that will extend the Spaniard’s stay at the outfit until the summer of 2020.
