Arsenal romped to a 4-2 comeback victory over local rivals Tottenham on Sunday night, snatching the fourth spot from Mauricio Pochettino’s men.
But just like standing on egg shells, Unai Emery’s men could drop when they face Manchester United in midweek.
A pounding problem for the Gunners that could see their new spot slip off their hands, like sand spilling through the spaces between their fingers, is midfielder Granit Xhaka.
The Swiss midfielder will not feature in the game against United due to the number of cards he’s collected so far this season.
Xhaka has been served with a suspension and will miss out on the clash with Jose Mourinho’s men.
This is obviously a bad headache for the Emery, who has yet to taste defeat apart from loses to former champions Chelsea and current champions Manchester City at the beginning of the season.
Nonetheless, 19-year-old Matteo Guendouzi is touted to take his place and given his kind of pace, he could cause problems for the sloppy Manchester United defenders.
Emery also has other options too such as Ainsley Maitland-Niles or Mohamed Elneny.
