Memphis Depay has laid bare his delight to return to the Premier League and play for Manchester City or Chelsea, per reports.
Depay arrived Manchester United in the summer of 2015 with the pedigree of a world class winger – he even handed the legendary squad no.7 Jersey. However, the Dutch forward hand a below par spell with United and he was offloaded in the January of 2017 to Lyon.
Since moving the the French Ligue 1, the 24-year-old has gotten his career back on the bounce. He has been a part of 57 goals in 74 appearances for his club albeit he has not scored since November.
United inserted a clause in his contract that could see them sign him up for a paltry £22m but it appears he fancies joining the rivals of his former club.
“I want a new transfer to a top-level club this summer. Lyon is a big club but it’s not one of the five best in Europe,” he told Dutch magazine Helden.
“I want to go to a club like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain or Bayern Munich.
“I want to go to a city that suits me and a club that suits me, to a team that really wants to play football. I always talk about Real Madrid, a royal club. White and gold shirts.”
Chelsea have already signed on Cristian Pulisic to play in the same role of Depay but the speculation surrounding the future of Callum Hodsun-Odoi and Eden Hazard means they may consider signing another winger in the summer.
