Leon Bailey has broken his silence over the rumors linking him to Premier League clubs during the January transfer window. The speedy winger was reported to be monitored by Premier League giants including Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United last month, but none of them was able to acquire the 20-year-old Jamaican.
The three clubs are reportedly ready to reignite their interest in the player in the summer as they want to improve their team before the commencement of the 2018-19 season.
It was earlier reported last month via the Daily Mirror that Bailey has a desire to feature for a Premier League club before the end of his career, but he wants to remain at Bayern Leverkusen for more seasons where first-team action is guaranteed.
He told Bild Sports that he wants to make a name for himself before moving to another club where there could be huge responsibility and high expectations from fans.
“Leverkusen is perfect for me,” he told Bild. I want to develop and then I can take the next step.
“When I move to a big club, the people there will want to know me. I want to make a name for myself at the highest level.
The winger also admitted that Bayern Leverkusen have been a great place to be and he hopes to end the club’s 25 years of being without a silverware by the end of this season.
According to the youngster, Bayern Leverkusen would win this season’s DFB Cup should they make it to the final match of the competition.
It is yet to be seen if Leverkusen would allow the player leave in the summer as all the three Premier League clubs are ready to compete for his signature when the summer transfer period opens.
