Given the antecedent of Jose Mourinho, his quality as a manager is in not doubt but his recent failings at Chelsea and now Man United has exposed his failings particularly in the transfer market.
Mourinho spent heavily to bolster United’s squad last summer but his team were able to garner their lowest League point since the 1991. The Special One has been excused with justification that he is in his first season and is building a team for Man United.
He is expected to shake up United’s squad ahead of next season which may involve the sale of some players. According to Starsports, the President of Benfica Luis Filipe Vieira and super agent Jorge Mendes have landed London in a bid to secure a deal for Man United third choice goalie Joel Pereira.
Benfica are wary of losing their first choice goalkeeper Ederson, who is on the radar of Manchester City, and they plan to replace him with Pereira, per A Bola. The report claims the president of Benfica was accompanied by Mendes to see if they could pull other deals through for their target, but no name was mentioned besides Pereira’s.
Man United also have Real Madrid on the case of their first choice goalie David De Gea and it will be foolhardy to allow top of their choicest shot-stoppers to leave in a summer. Mourinho knows too well but he must cash in on some of the dead woods in the team.
Meanwhile, the President of Benfica has been constantly spotted in London for talks with Man United as per reports in Portugal. It is high time Filipe bought himself a house in London than spending big in hotels.
