Manchester United are in pole position to sign France and Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombélé Alvaro, this report is according to the Metro.
The 21-year-old star was in high demand in the summer transfer window. Despite Manchester City making a €50 million (£45m) offer for the star in the summer, Lyon refused to sell.
Ndombele joined Lyon only last season but he has increased his stock with a series of impressive performances. He can play as a defensive or box to box midfielder, and he is heavily tipped to leave Lyon sooner or later.
United signed Fred last summer but the Brazilian is yet to impress Jose Mourinho. The Red Devils have had a poor start to life in the League, with Mourinho blaming his predicament on the dearth of quality players in his side.
The reports claims that Man United are desperate to sign the player who is valued at a staggering £70m.
He was quizzed on the possibility of a move, and the rising star admitted to the possibility of joining Man United or City.
‘I could have gone [in the summer], maybe things would have worked out well,’ the midfielder told Canal Football Club.
‘The club was firm, they didn’t want me to leave. I didn’t feel like leaving, and I think that today you can see that it was the best decision for me.
‘Things are going well, I am playing a lot of games, and I am in the French national team. So, I think for the moment it was the best decision.
‘I don’t imagine how my career will go, I live it instead. ‘When I was young I didn’t dream of being in this or that club, whether it is Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester City, I have never dreamed of being in a specific club like that. ‘Of course they are big clubs, I don’t close the door to anyone.’
