Man United target agrees personal terms to sign 5-year deal with club

Manchester United have been dealt a huge blow in their quest to bolster their squad as transfer target Clement Lenglet, is nearing a move to Barcelona, per reports.

Lenglet joined Sevilla in the January of 2017 but his short spell with the Seria A Club has been nothing short of impressive and he’s won the admiration of Barcelona boss Ernesto Velverde and Jose Mourinho.

Man United had the second best defensive record in the league last term but Jose Mourinho is looking to add another top-notch centre-back to his plethora of otherwise quality CBs. Toby Alderweireld has been mentioned as a target for the Red Devils, so is Lenglet who was heavily tipped to make the Old Trafford switch.

United may have to look elsewhere to bolster their backline – Lenglet has reportedly agreed personal terms to join Barcelona on a five year deal, reports Sport via teamtalk.

The player is valued at €35m but Barcelona are yet to reach an agreement with Sevilla over a fee as they are unwilling to meet the said release clause.

Mourinho was captivated with the player’s work rate when Sevilla knocked out Man United from the Champions league. Nonetheless, he’d have to make a huge bid for the star if he wants to beat Barcelona to his signature.

United have already signed on Diogo Dalot but a chunk of their defenders are expected to leave the club before the start of the new season.
