Manchester United’s proposed deal for Spanish striker Alvaro Morata has dragged on for months but it appears that United will have the last laugh as the Express claim an agreement has been reached between the Red Devils and Los Blancos.
The father of Alvaro Morata Alfonso Morata and his agent Juanma Lopez sat at table at Santiago Bernabeu to conclude on his move to Man United. There is no telling what decision they took but it appears that a deal is in the offing for the player.
Morata returned from a two spell at the Old Lady of Turin in high spirit only to find himself behind Karim Benzema in the selection perking order of Real Madrid. A move to Manchester United will guarantee him a place in the front-line of Jose Mourinho as confirmed by the Portuguese tactician.
All United advances at Madrid to sign Morata had hit the rocks over a transfer fee. The Champions League winners were understood to be holding out for £70m against Man United’s £60m offers for the player. Now, Spanish media Don Balon claim both parties have stricken an agreement to the tune of £61.5m (€70m) for his transfer.
Man United have completed just one signing this summer but Mourinho is unsatisfied with the current players at his disposal. He is keen on continue the rebuilding the squad, a project he started last summer.
An announcement for this deal is expected to be made this week, as claimed by Don Balon.
Chelsea were also in the pursuit of Alvaro Morata but United are now clear favorite for his signature as the Premier League champions have their sights on Romelu Lukaku.
