Although Manchester United have signed two players in this transfer window, they are yet undone with business for this summer as they are now looking to add a winger to their squad.
United have advanced negotiation with Real Madrid over a potential deal for Gareth Bale, according to Manchester Evening News.
Jose Mourinho has been a big fan of Bale since his days with Les Merengues but the resolve of the La Liga club to hold on to the player has presented a huge stumbling block to a deal for him.
United were heavily linked with a move for the player last summer but Madrid refused to sell following their failure to adequately bolster their squad. But Bale fueled speculation over his future with Madrid in the aftermath of their hatrick of Champions league conquest.
Mourinho had revealed after the capture of Alexis Sanchez that he would be looking to strengthen the other areas of his squad but in a turn of event, he’s asked Ed Woodward to add a winger to his front-three, and a move for Bale is now in the offing.
It may be difficult for Real Madrid to allow Bale leave after they sanctioned the transfer of Ronaldo. Nonetheless, Money rules the modern transfer window and if the Red Devils make the right offer for him, he could be allowed to leave.
His signing will affect the place of Jesse Lingard as it is given that Fred, Matic and Pogba will be the midfield trio.
Bale is valued at £81.00m according to transfermarkt.
