Man United on the verge of agreeing £26.3m deal for ‘new Kaka’

José Mourinho’s mission to find a perfect replacement for Paul Pogba continues and the Portuguese manager has been linked with numerous midfielders, according to reports.

The latest midfielder who could be joining the Portuguese tactician at the Theater of Dreams this summer is Real Betis midfielder Fabian Ruiz.

According to Spanish media outlet Don Balon via Birminghammail, the Red Devils boss has advised his employers to make move for the player’s signature in the summer and a £26.3m fee has been mooted for the move.

Based on Mourinho’s verdict, United hierarchy are reportedly set to reach an agreement with the La Liga side for his signature, though they might face huge competition from Barcelona who are also eyeing a possible move for his services.

Having joined Real Betis from Elche in 2017, the 22-year-old playmaker — who is dubbed the ‘New Kaka’ — has played just nine matches this season in all competitions, scoring ten goals in the process.

Though the former Spanish Under-21 player is relatively unknown to the public, Mourinho had once sent his scouts to monitor his performance and he was delighted with the feedback he received from them.

With Paul Pogba uncertain over his future at Old Trafford, the youngster could be brought in as the Frenchman’s replacement should he eventually join the Red Devils.
