Arsenal and Manchester United have found themselves in the same boat for Lille shooting star Nicolas Pepe.
With four goals and three assists attached to his name, in seven games for Lille, Pepe has definitely stirred interests in his direction from two of Europe’s biggest clubs.
According to reports milling out of France, United and Arsenal are in a two-legged race for the rising star.
And the same reports say that both clubs will be homing in on the 23-year-old Ivorian in January.
Given his stunning start to the season, and a shockingly second position in the Ligue One log, after a staggering campaign that saw them almost relegated, Lille could be baited into selling the star if the right price comes along.
United are still staggering and hopes to return to the division top six may be a little far-fetched after a surprising home one-all draw against Wolves.
The Red Devils frontman Alexis Sanchez has yet to stamp his mark in United, after the stupendous spend overseeing his transfer from Arsenal earlier this year.
Meanwhile, Arsenal could use Pepe creativity on the left side of the pitch this season. Emery is demanding more from his attacking frontline, including bossing ball possession.
A 30-million-euros bid for the 23-year-old was reportedly turned down this summer, but there are hints Lyon will budge if the right price for his switch is submitted.
