What was apparently lacking in the team of Man United last season was the presence of a very potent striking force. The Red Devils had a rock solid defense that conceded the second least goals in the League but Zlatan Ibrahimovic and his supporting attackers lacked a bit of fire power.
Jose Mourinho has acknowledged the need to bolster his attack and it appears that Croatian international and Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic will join the Red Devils after the San Siro giants accepted an improved £45m offer for the player, reports the Sun.
The 28-year-old winger who join Inter Milan in the summer of 2015 from Vfl Wolfsburg, has been on the radar of Man United. The Old Trafford Landlords had seen a €30M bid for the player rebuffed but they returned with a €52m bid, which has now been accepted by Inter Milan.
Perisic enjoyed a barnstorming season last term, where he scored 11 goals and provided eight assists in in the Seria A. He was even watched by Jose Mourinho earlier this year in Zagreb claims Calciomercato. The report claims that he is also wanted by Antonio Conte in Chelsea but he will be heading to United.
There is a dearth of attacking talents at Old Trafford. Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard struggled to impress all season despite the chances handed to them. Mata seem to be injury prone and unreliable while Wayne may be on his way out with the star’s decline obvious.
Perisic can play in a side that plays with high-intensity and it should not take him so much time to settle and adapt to the Premier League with Man United.
