Barring Man United deal for Ivan Perisic that has dragged on for a long, the Red Devils have had their business stalled in window since the signing of Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku.
Serbian international and Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic has been on the transfer radar of the Red Devils and reports according to the Daily star reports that United are willing to pay £40million for his services.
Matic partnered N’golo Kante to conquer the Premier League title and he was ahead of Cesc Fabregas for the Blues last term – despite his strides, he’s fallen out of favour with Antonio Conte following his preference for French midfield stalwart Tiemoue Bakayoko.
The player has been told he’s free to talk any Club of his choice, with Juventus keen interested. However, the Old Lady are unwilling to meet the asking price of Chelsea as we understand.
Mourinho has bemoaned the lack of addition signing at the Club and he is a huge fan of the player. It was Mourinho who resigned the player for Chelsea from Benfica and he wants to link up with the tough-tackling marksman.
The report claims United are willing to pay £40million for the 28-year-old. The Red Devils have been linked with a move for Tottenham’s Eric Dier but it is apparent that Matic is the priority target.
United a tad thread bare in midfield since the departure of Wayne Rooney and Mourinho wants that area reinforced before the season comes alive.
