Man United close to deal for £6m in-demand tough-tackling CB

Manchester United are looking to sign former player and West Bromwich Albion centre-back Jonny Evans, this is according to report.

Jonny Evans has easily become one of the most sought-after centre-backs in the Premier League following his impressive displays for the Magpies. Arsenal and Manchester City were heavily linked with a move for the defender in the January transfer window but the deal fell through.

Manchester City ended up signing Aymeric Laporte in the same transfer window while Wenger revealed at that time that the Gunners failed to sign him because of his price tag. And now, the Sun have claimed United want to land to star for a paltry fee.

Barring loan spells at  Royal Antwerp and Sunderland, Evans spent the entirety of his career at Manchester United before joining West Brom in a £6m in the summer of 2015.

The player had a relegation clause included in his deal which will enable him move for £3million at the end of the season and Man United are looking to take advantage of this. West Bromwich Albion are comfortably sited in the last place on the Premier League table and they will relegated.

Manchester United have the second best defensive record in the Premier League with quality options in the centre-back position. Nonetheless, Mourinho is not very satisfied with those players and he wants to sign reinforcement.
