Man United close to announcing swap deal for James Rodriguez, Chelsea beaten to deal

Man United slumped  further down the Premier League log after suffering consecutive defeats to Arsenal and Tottenham. The Red Devils only hope at Champions League qualification is if they beat Ajax in the final of the Europa Champions League.

Regarding the transfer of players, James Rodriguez has been in the media wave of Man United, with recent report making the rounds, the World Cup winner is close to agreeing terms with the Red Devils as Jose Mourinho looks to bolster his squad for next season.

Rodriguez has struggled to break into the first team of Los Blancos since Zinedine Zidane agreed to manage Madrid. He has been strongly linked with a move to Man United with Mourinho already eyeing replacement for Wayne Rooney and Michael carrick.

However, Man United have been asked to pay £64m (€75m) before they can sign him but this is even less than what Mourinho paid for Pogba. His propensity to spend big in the transfer market may see him meet Rodriguez price tag.

Chelsea are also interested in the player according to Daily Star but it appears that United are in pole position for his signature. Madrid are interested in signing David De Gea and they will use Rodriguez as bait to sign De Gea.

Rodriguez can play behind the striker or from the wing, he will provide quality option for Jose Mourinho in attack – the Colombian international is adept at tearing opposition’s defense with his passes.
