Man United battle Man City for £40m-rated midfielder

Manchester United and their neighbors Manchester City could get a new defensive midfielder without passing through much difficult processes as OGC Nice defensive midfielder Jean-Michael Seri publicly declared his love to play for either the Red Devils or the Citizens according to report by French newspaper Foot Mercato.

The Ivorian international almost moved to Barcelona last summer but couldn’t push through his £40million move to Camp Nou.

Pep Guardiola who is currently in need of players to enlarge his team’s defensive department will be happy to sign the 26-year-old player depending on his price tag by the Ligue 1 side Nice.

Mourinho on his part, has publicly declared his intention to bring some new faces into his squad. He might be going for the player due to the player’s creativity in the middle of the pitch, he can also be used as Paul Pogba’s back-up incase the Frenchman got injured.

It’s yet to be seen if both managers are willing to work with the Ivorian international, they are yet to comment about the player’s desire to work with them.

The Red Devils were in action at the Theater of Dreams against Derby County last night. The match ended 2-0 in favour of José Mourinho’s men. With the result, they are now through to the fourth round of FA Cup competition.

Manchester City are in action on Saturday against Burnley at the Etihad stadium.
