The manager of Ajax Erik ten Hag has confirmed that the club is working on a deal for Manchester United versatile left back Daley Blind but he went further to claim the deal depends on Red Devils, according to reports.
Blind has seen his stock for Man United reduced to it’s lowest since the arrival of Jose Mourinho in the penultimate season – he managed to feature in seven Premier league games last term, and he might not even get similar opportunity next term following United’s interest in Alex Sandro.
Mourinho favours an Ashley Young as his left back over the likes of Luke Shaw and Marcos Rojo. Even with the plethora of options, the Portuguese tactician is yet on the look out for a more assured left wing back.
Blind has had two spells at the Eredivisie with Ajax and a return to the side might get his career back on track. Although, United have signed only two players, they are also looking to cash in on some of their bit-part players, with Blind top of that list.
Ten Hag laid bare their desire to sign the 28-year-old according to Skysports.
“(He is) a player with a lot of experience, in the Premier League and in the Dutch national team,” Ten Hag said.
“He is a stable personality. Just like the arrival of Dusan Tadic, this also counts as a considerable effort of the club. We are doing everything, but it also depends on other parties.”
Blind is valued at 18,00 Mill. €, about the same price that United signed him. Nonetheless, we wait to see how much the Red Devils will demand for the player.
