Lyon’s president admits striker wants to play for Arsene Wenger

Arsenal are on the cusp of strengthening their front-line with French forward Alexandre Lacazette but his coming is bound to initiate some shake up in the team of Arsenal, particularly in the attack.

Having rebuffed their initial bid for Lacazette, Arsenal appears to have returned with an improved offer for the  €55 million-rated striker, although no fee for the striker has been agreed.

The signing of Lacazette will inadvertently affect the place of his compatriot Oliver Giroud, who is second to Sanchez in the pecking order at Arsenal.

However, Giroud has also been linked with a move to Lyon but the president of Les Gones Jean-Michel Aulas somewhat revealed that Giroud will stay put at the Emirates this summer.

Giroud, 30, had revealed that he would consider his Arsenal future if another striker is signed, however, Lacazette’s coming to Arsenal might not see him lose his place as the probable new signing can play from the flanks with Sanchez.

Lyon and West Ham are the two Clubs in the running for his signature but Aulas has revealed that Giroud may not want to exit Arsenal this summer.

I think that today Olivier wants to stay at Arsenal, especially [because of] Arsène Wenger.

If there are arrivals, maybe he will want to return to France.

Arsene Wenger wants Oliver Giroud to remain at the Emirate but he’s resigned to losing Lucas Perez who joined last summer and is keen on a move.
