Liverpool on the brink of sealing deal for Serbian star

Liverpool will finally hope they can offload misfit Lazar Markovic before the 11pm deadline today.

The January window will be shut by 11pm on Thursday, and Liverpool bigwigs are hopeful they can get a deal for Markovic through the line.

The Serbian international since joining in 2015 has yet to make it into the club’s senior side.

Markovic has enjoyed loan spells at Sporting Lisbon, Anderlecht, Fenerbahce and Hull City after failing to break ranks into the first team.

The 20-million-pounds signing from Benfica could be sold to Turkish side Besiktas after failing to shine at Anfield.

Talks is said to have commenced between both sides and Liverpool will hope they can seal his move to join the Turkish outfit after proposed moves to Olympiacos and Fiorentina broke down.

Reds already have enough wingers who can fuel their attack and Markovic feels like excess baggage.

Talks milling about have claimed that Liverpool are willing to accept a lesser fee for the star just to get him off their wage book.

Liverpool extend their gap atop the Premier League to five points, following Manchester City’s shocking loss to Leicester City.
