Liverpool officials arrive Spain over move for €35m-rated star forward

Liverpool have a pool of talented players at their disposal after Klopp’s summer overhaul. But the Reds transfer business is far from over. The January transfer window is gradually moving through gears and reports floating around is claiming the Reds are homing in on former target Gelson Martins.

Liverpool have more than enough players in their books to bolster their attack. But to peg down Portuguese star Gelson Martins as a new winter target according to the Daily Star, has come rather surprising.

The news outlet has reportedly stated that the Merseyside outfit have sent scouts to closely monitor the Atletico Madrid star.

Gelson joined the Madrid outfit this summer after terminating his contract with former club Sporting CP. His termination followed a brutal assault in June on several players and staff members by some club supporters.

The 5ft 8in winger joined Atletico Madrid on a free in July, penning down a five-year deal with the Super Cup winners.

The Portugal international current valuation is tagged at 30 million pounds.

But Liverpool will face fierce competition from Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Everton. All three clubs have reportedly sent their scouts to monitor Martins’ progress.

The 23-year-old price tag is expected to hit a new high mark when the transfer business returns in January.

He is currently valued at 35,00 Mill. € according to transfermarkt.
