Liverpool are reportedly eyeing a sweet deal for Sporting Lisbon fan Gelson Martins, reports Walkon.
The 23-year-old is set to terminate his contract with the Portuguese outfit after sharp insulting remarks from fans. He joins the shortlist of names quitting their games at Lisbon.
Martins, linked with a move from Sporting, has alerted a lot of suitors, including Liverpool, currently on the queue in the bid for his services.
They will face League rivals Arsenal who are close to signing Lucas Torreira after the youngster agreed to switch to the Gunners camp, in a big battle for the Portugal international.
Martíns has seen his name rise to prominence after he scored seven goals and made four assists in 42 matches for Lisbon during the 2015/2016 campaign.
However his major breakthrough, that will eventually lead him to become a prospect for top flight teams like Liverpool and Arsenal was his squealing performance last term.
Martíns tallied 13 goals and 13 assists in 52 appearances for Lisbon last term, a feat that spiked the interests of Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea as well as Everton, all four in contention over who will eventually sign him up.
Liverpool are considered favourites but they will have to find a way to fend off attention from rival clubs Chelsea, Everton and particularly Arsenal.
