Lionel Messi reveals how Manchester United made Barcelona lose to Roma in UCL

Lionel Messi has blamed Barcelona’s defeat to Roma in the quarter final of the Champions League to Manchester United’s interest on Samuel Umtiti, this is according to report.

To the surprise of the football world, Manchester United were stunned by AS Roma in the return leg of their Champions League game as they were thumped 3-0.

Barcelona went into the game with a 4-1 lead and Roma were thought to need a miracle to overcome the wiles of the Camp Nou outfit. However, goals from Edin Dzeko, Daniele de Rossi and Kostas Manolas made it an unforgettable night for Barca.

Many expected Lionel Messi to pull up a surprise with the magic boots but the game swallowed him as he was nowhere to be found. According to the Express Sport via Diario Gol, Messi was irate at Umtiti at half time.

The French centre-back is on the radar of Manchester United and it is believed that the Red Devils will make a move for him at the close of the season.

Barcelona are preparing to offer Umtiti a new improved contract but he has stalled over a new deal as he wants a significant payrise to remain at Camp Nou.

The report went further to claim that Messi anger stemmed from the fact that Umtiti was heavily distracted. Jordi Alba was also fingered as failing to up his game when it mattered most by Messi.
