The Emirates Cup kick-offs today with a game against Portuguese Champions Benfica and the game will give Arsene Wenger another opportunity to shape up his team for the curtain raiser of the Premier League against Chelsea.
Arsenal suffered a heavy defeat against the Premier League Champions in the Far East friendly game but there is no need to go nuts about a pre-season game. The squad will seek to win all their matches but Arsene Wenger will rotate his squad heavily to see how every player can fit in when the season comes alive.
Arsenal have already bolstered their squad with the signing of Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac but the Gunners may not go into the season with all of their players. Santi Cazorla, Jack Wilshere and Gabriel Paulista are still on the recovery pane while Shkodran Mustafi and Alexis Sanchez will return to training next week.
There has been heavy speculation surrounding the future of Sanchez but Wenger has insisted that the player has not told him he wants out of the Club. The lure of Champions League football has seen him linked with the likes Manchster City and Paris Saint Germain.
The Emirates Cup was suspended last term due to the Euro 2016 Championship and pitch renovation at the Emirate Stadium last summer.
