It remains unclear if Chelsea would have been able to slug it out with Paris Saint-Germain if they had baited N’golo Kante to Parc de Princes.
Kante came close to leaving the English outfit after an outstanding showoff in the World Cup for France.
The stout and agile, never relenting midfield guardian is highly regarded in the Premier League and across Europe as one of the best holding midfielders.
And Chelsea losing him to Ligue One biggest spender Paris Saint-Germain could have collapsed their midfield, and perhaps hampered their chances of challenging for the Premier League title this season.
Kante revealed he was contacted by the Parisian club, but showed them his back.
The outstanding midfielder expressed that the lure was too good, but Chelsea’s welcoming atmosphere felt too good to throw away.
The France international says, “I realised the main thing was to feel good where I was.”
“There were other clubs interests but after talking to Chelsea, things were clear. The club is counting on me and I feel good. The next logical step was to continue to Chelsea. There were some contacts [from PSG]. But after a discussion with Chelsea I realised that the main thing was to feel good where I was. I am at Chelsea. It’s good for me to stay at Chelsea.” Kante told RMC sport.
Kante’s presence at Chelsea creates makes an healthy balance in Sarri’s squad.
