Cesc Fabregas may find it had to claw back and claimed the spot he unwillingly relinquished to newcomers Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic since the Premier League took off this campaign.
Fabregas has enjoyed fewer games since Sarri took over the reins of the club this summer.
And perhaps his chances of returning to Chelsea’s centre-half are growing slimmer and fading gradually, yet, he has refused to cave in to the pressure– a huge contrast was seen in his zeal at Chelsea’s training ground.
Chelsea world record-signing Kepa Arrizabalaga suggested that the 31-year-old worked himself more at training than any other player under Sarri, an effort he’s commended his fellow compatriot for.
When asked during an interview on Chelsea FC’s website who has been the most outstanding player in the club’s training session, he gave that award to Cesc Fabregas.
Fabregas played a pivotal role in Chelsea’s winning 2016-2017 season, and during their sloppy campaign last season.
But Fabregas has not been afforded that same opportunity this season, and fresh threats from England duo Ross Barkley and Ruben Loftus-Cheek is bound to push him further down the pecking order in the midfield department.
Meanwhile, Kepa says he has found a way to bridge his estranged relationship between himself and Chelsea’s No. 2 Willy Caballero.
